He didn't know how to talk about it, really, and he was an old dog that didn't much care for new tricks. He also didn't want to accidentally get any of his mess all over Malcolm and have a misunderstanding. It didn't have much to do with Malcolm personally, beyond the magic the smaller man wielded in getting Raylan to crack himself open now and then.
