Malcolm was scared of the monster inside his father. That was true. But it was also so much more complicated than that. Complicated by the fact that he found out his father wanted to kill him on the camping trip. He was ten years old. Complicated by the fact that he needed to know things only Dr Whitly knew and never knew if the things he was told were true.
