The villa Malcolm rented was in the Languedoc, not far from Marseilles, south of Avignon. It was a very historic region, though Malcolm was particularly not interested in visiting Marseilles again. There was a charming village nearby the villa and if they were going to go to an historic city for a day, he'd rather make the trip over to Montpellier, where he'd never been at all, much less with Dr Whitly.

The villa had six bedrooms. As the driver brought their luggage inside the bright and spacious main room, Malcolm handed him some folded Euros and thanked him and shut the door behind him.

"First choice of a room is yours," he told Edrisa with a smile. "But you might want to explore first."

"Oh! Sorry!" She let go of him and stood up, retrieving her own pants and putting them on. "Don't want you to freeze your ass off!" she noted with a teasing smile.

He grinned, getting up to pull his own pants up, then looped an arm around her.

"No. I'm pretty sure you're not done with it," he teased back.

She did promise she'd never be done with him.

He kept his arm around her to start the walk back up to the house.

She looped her own arm around his waist and headed with him toward the house. "Not in a million years," she answered, eyes sparkling. "I can now add France to my list of places I've been where I have yet to see a nicer butt."

He laughed.

"You flatter, madamoiselle," he told her, pressing a kiss to her temple.

Edrisa grinned, leaning into him. "It's true!" she insisted. "We're going to have to go to more places, so I can further confirm the superiority of your world class ass."

"So I have to bring this thing all over the world," he joked, like it was a hardship.

"Yep!" she chirped cheerfully. "So you absolutely cannot freeze it off. Nuh uh. Not allowed."

"Then I guess you'll have to keep an eye on it for me. Check on it now and then," he suggested, opening the door and holding it for her.

"At least three times a day," she promised with a grin, walking into the house.

The table had been cleared, and she could hear water running in the kitchen. She peaked in to see the chef washing dishes.

"Oh, that's nice!" She looked back at Malcolm. "Is that part of his job?"

"It's supposed to be a full service. I guess I assumed he'd bring an assistant of some sort, but whatever works for him," Malcolm remarked.

"Maybe we should tip him more?" she suggested, really not knowing how any of it worked but wanting to treat the chef well. "His food was really good."

"Oh, I already did," he said. "I prepaid. With a generous gratuity. I wanted to make sure everything went well."

"Oh. Good." She gestured back toward the kitchen. "Do we need to stay up? Or will he just go when he's finished?"

"I'm sure he can find his way out," Malcolm told her, steering her towards the bedrooms. The chef had come highly recommended and had been here many times. He wasn't concerned.

"Okay." Edrisa was happy to follow his lead.

When they went into his room Edrisa gestured toward the window. "Would you like me to open the window a little? It might be nice to have a breeze and smell the bloom while you sleep."

That wouldn't have occurred to him. His windows at home didn't open. He smiled.

"Yeah; I'd like that." He gestured to them. "What made you think of that?"

She went over to open the window. "The night air is just so nice," she said. "When I was a kid, if the weather was right you could smell the ocean. I liked having my window open for that."

"I'd like to try that some time," he told her, crawling onto the bed and working his way into his restraints.

"We could do that!" She opened the window about a quarter, then returned to his bed, crawling next to him.

He was having trouble getting the left cuff over his cast and he held it across his body so she could finish it.

"Can you turn off the lamp after you get that on?" he asked a little uncomfortably. He used to think these logistics ahead; he'd had to handle them all himself.

"Of course!" She was happy to help, gently easing the cuff over his cast. She got up and turned off the lamp, then returned to bed and snuggled in close.

He was still faintly aware of the danger of becoming a burden, but when she was so happy to help, it was hard to obsess over it. His good arm wrapped around her shoulders to hold her close and his cast rested on her hip. Looking up at the skylight, with the lights off he was rewarded with the view he'd been hoping for.

"So I think I promised to make up a constellation and the story that goes with it, right?"

"You did!" she said, her head resting on his shoulder, looking up at the stars through the skylight. "What do you see?"
